World Largest CSCL Asia Virgin Voyage to Guangzhou Port

On November 16, China Shipping Group and Guangzhou Port Group Co., Ltd held the virgin voyage ceremony of CSCL Asia , the world largest of its kind, to Nansha Port of Guangzhou. Its successful virgin voyage symbolizes that Guangzhou Port can undertake the loading and unloading of today s world largest container ship.
Mr. Lin Shusen, member of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and secretary of Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee, Captain Li Kelin, President of China Shipping Group and Chairman of China Shipping Container Lines Co. Ltd. cut the ribbon for the virgin voyage of CSCL Asia to Nansha Port of Guangzhou.Mr. LinYuanhe, executive Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, extended warm welcome to the virgin voyage of CSCL Asia to Guangzhou Port in his speech. He pointed out that China Shipping Group had being fully supported the economic construction of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City for a long time, played an important role in safeguarding the transportation of coal and oil and other important energy materials in particular. China Shipping Group maintained close ties with Guangzhou City in many aspects. It actively supported the triggering operation of Guangzhou Nansha Port, providing preferable conditions for Nansha Port. At present, 2 main foreign trade lines had opened, creating a very good atmosphere for the startup of Guangzhou Nansha Port.
Mr. Wang Daxiong, Vice President of China Shipping Group, said in his address that China Shipping Group had successfully led to the target of becoming the Top Three Liner Companies with the efforts of China Shipping employees and support from all circles of the society. He pointed out that China Shipping Group paid high importance to the cooperation with Guangzhou Port, and expected to achieve win-win situation from the cooperation.
CSCL Asia is 334m long, 42.6m wide, and the speed is 25.2 KT, really can be called an aircraft carrier on the sea.
Guangzhou Port is the comprehensive pivot port in south China. The throughput of the port reached 172 million tons in 2003, ranking the eighth among the World Top Ten Ports. Since its establishment, Guangzhou Port Group Company have been engaged in acceleration of port reconstruction, and contributed greatly to the economic and social development of south China.
