On the afternoon of 21st April, Dr. Brian Evans from the University of Alberta, Canada gave a lecture on My Relationship with China in the college library. The lecture, hosted by Vice-President Peng Yonghong, is also the third lecture of the Dongjiang Academic Forum.

Dr. Brian Evans shared with us what he had seen and heard in China since 1964, including China s politics, economy, culture and social life. Because he had read Edgar Snow s book, The Other Side of the River , he chose to visit China and started his journey. During this long journey, he witnessed the Chinese Civil War, Great Leap Forward, Cultural Revolution and Reform and Opening. Also he witnessed China s process of developing a prosperous country from poverty and backwardness. When he recalled his talks with Premier Zhou, he greatly admired him and said, I have never seen such an amazing, admirable person in my life .

During his lecture, Dr. Evans not only shared some anecdotes he had seen and heard in China, but also answered students questions.
