On the afternoon of Oct.26th, 2010, The Vice President of Asian Development Bank, Dr. Bindu N. Lohani visited SZU. He was accompanied by Mr. Zheng Liping, a former mayor and senior government official of Shenzhen Municipal Government, now the Chief Specialist of Urban Development for central and western Asia. Dr. Lohani delivered an academic speech at No.3 Conference Hall, ScienceTower for students of economics on the subject of ADB s Strategy and the Role of Asia s Universities in a Knowledge Economy, which was received with a lot of enthusiasm from the audience. In his lecture, he pointed that China faced a number of challenges as its economy had reached the critical period of transformation, provoking the thought of how Chinese higher education could prepare its younger generation to tackle a number of relevant problems in the near future. Dr. Lohani interacted with the audience and answered questions related to appreciation of RMB, the possible war of international exchange rates, and other hot issues on global economy. Before his lecture, SZU President Professor Zhang Bigong conferred Honorary Professor to Dr. Lohani, who had already lectured and been a professor in many universities prior to his undertaking the position at ADB.
