Mr. Jarraud, Secretary-General with WMO, Pays a Visit to the Center

Mr. Michel Jarraud, Secretary-General with WMO, along with Wang Caifang (our schoolfellow), External relations officer with WMO, accompanied by Zheng Guoguang, Deputy Administrator of CMA, paid his visit to WMO RMTC Nanjing China on 2 November 2005. It was his first visiting to our university after the accession to Secretary-General with WMO. Liu Yiping, secretary of university Party committee, Sun Zhaobo, president of the university, and Niu Shengjie, vice president of the university attended the meeting.

Professor Sun Zhaobo, director of the Center and president of the university, warmly greeted Mr. Jarraud. Prof. Sun gave a brief report to the visitors on the center development in recent years and the center achievements in international training and education. After the meeting, Mr. Jarraud visited the classrooms, the guesthouse and Doppler radar station.

In the month, RMTC held the first meteorological management training seminar for ministerial level, and hosted t he 34 th delegation of WMO ministerial level . Mr. Jarraud's visiting would enhance the university's status in the world, strengthen the cooperation and exchange between the university and WMO, and promote the development of China 's high education of meteorology.
