President Invites You For Lectures--General Zhang Jigang on Power of Culture

President of Capital Normal University, Mr. Liu Xincheng invited the General Zhang Jigang to give a lecture Successful Opening and Closing Ceremonies of Beijing Olympics and Paralympics, Discussion of Power of Culture on Daily Life on March 5.
Through analyzing several occasions during the planning, design and rehearsal of the opening and closing ceremonies of Beijing Olympics and Paralympics, General Zhang explained with simple words to the audience that how he exhibited the profound connotations of classic Chinese civilization to the outside world through innovations, and how he revealed the world-shaking achievements China secured in its Reforms and Opening Up over the past 30 years to the whole world through innovations, and how he told the world that a great county like China cannot be rocked through innovations. General Zhang Jigang said that if this innovated Chinese cultural power could be spreaded to every corner of the globe, the whole world will then understand more about China, will know more about China and will love Chinese culture more. In order for the students to have more chances to communicate with the General and on behalf of Capital Normal University, President Liu Xincheng appointed General Zhang as a Guest Professor.
General Zhang Jigang is President of the People s Liberation Army Institute of Arts, and was the deputy minister of the Publicity Department of the People's Liberation Army General Political Department and the head of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the PLA General Political Department. Zhang is a famous contemporary art director, a graduate student tutor, the chairman of China Special Arts Commission, the vice chairman of China Dancers Association. He is also the deputy director general of 2008 Beijing Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, the executive director general of 2008 Paralympics opening and closing ceremonies, and the director general of large music and dance epic Road of Rehabilitation which is aimed for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People s Republic of China.
President Invites You For Lectures issue was firstly mentioned when the first session of President Invites You For Afternoon Tea that was held last semester. During the discussions of that afternoon tea time, many participant students suggested to enhance cultural environment on the campus and accelerate cultural construction of Capital Normal University, and Mr. Liu Xincheng decided to push forward the President Invites You For Lectures campaign under his direct leadership.
