On March 22nd, STU administrators held a meeting concerned with talent introduction and development. Provost Gu Peihua, Vice President Wen Xiaobo, deans and assistant deans, department heads, as well as leaders from teaching departments and other relevant departments attended the meeting presided over by Vice President Wulan Hasi.
Provost Gu Peihua introduced the talent development plan of both China and Guangdong Province and briefed attendees on the talent introduction work being done in distinguished universities at home and abroad. He also analyzed the challenges posed by talent introduction in higher learning institutions, such as how to cope with the problems of introducing and respecting talents.
Vice President Wen Xiaobo first detailed the requirements and objectives of scientific research set by STU s pilot reform plan, followed by his analysis of the relationship between talent development and scientific research. Finally, he highlighted the importance of the university s talent development for the success of the reform plan.
Vice President Wulan Hasi gave a detailed introduction to STU s talent development goals and outlined concrete measures for talent recruitment. He emphasized that STU will gradually draft and promulgate new policies and measures to keep pace with the times, including further reforming the faculty s annual salary system, exploring the integration of the international tenure-track practice with China s specific conditions, setting up a tenured-professor system, constructing a new salary framework, implementing the internationally-practiced pension and annuity systems, and building a sabbatical system for teachers, etc.
The meeting s participants also held an in-depth discussion on other issues relevant to talent introduction.
