On the afternoon of March 26, the opening ceremony for the final assessment of SCUT's 11th "Challenge Cup" University Student Extracurricular Academic, Science, and Technology Work Competition and the exhibition of the competition works was held at Shaw Building of Humanities. School leaders LI Yuanyuan, DU Xiaoming, ZHANG Zhengang, QIU XueQing, as well as members of Hong Kong Alumni Association, including its Honorary President CAI Jianzhong, President LUN ZhiYan, Vice president LIU Jiahan, attended the ceremony, together with over 200 teacher and student representatives of the relevant schools.
It is said that since the commencement of the competition in October 2008, 212 works from 19 schools have been handed in, covering a wide range of disciplines. After the preliminary examination, a total of 170 works entered the final competition, of which the outstanding ones will participate in the provincial and national competitions on behalf of the University. The national competition will be held at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics this November. The University competition has been strongly supported by the Hong Kong Alumni Association of SCUT.
