On the afternoon of September, 28, Dr. S Jaishankar, Indian Ambassador to China, Mr. Pandey, Consul General of India in Guangzhou and Mr. Nair, Indian Cultural Consul, visited JNU. Prof. Jiang Shuzhuo, Vice President of JNU received the delegation. Present at the meeting also include Prof. Yu Huifen, Director of International Affairs Office of JNU, and Prof. Jia Haitao, Director of Institute for Chindian Studies, JNU.
Prof. Jiang gave the delegation a brief introduction about JNU s history, academic characteristics and the exchange and cooperative programs with Indian universities and research institutes. Jiang also hopes Dr. Jaishankar s visit can bring the university more cooperation opportunities with Indian universities.
Dr. Jaishankar introduced the contacts between India and China, especially the contacts in the education sector. He expressed the hope that through Sino-India educational exchanges, the two countries ties in other fields can also be strengthened.
After the meeting, Prof. Jiang and Dr. Jaishankar, on behalf of Jinan University and India Council for Culture Relations respectively, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
Afterwards, Prof. Jiang accompanied Dr. Jaishankar to visit the history Museum of JNU. Dr. Jaishankar expressed his high appreciation and praise, which was reflected in his inscription It was a great pleasure to visit the History Musuem of Jinan. We greatly value our growing cooperation with a prestigious institution that has such a long and distinguished history in China.
