The Unveiling Ceremony of Overseas Chinese Language Research Center Held in Our University
The first meeting of the Overseas Chinese Language Research Center, which was formed jointly by the Department of Language Information Management of the Ministry of Education and Jinan University, was held recently in the College of Chinese Language & Culture. Present on the meeting included Mr. Wang Tiekun, the director of the Department of Language Information Management of the Ministry of Education, Pofessor Zhou Haiqing from the Chinese Language & Culture Center of the Singapore South Pacific Polytechnic University, Mr.
Lu Jianming, chairman of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching etc. The theme of the session was Direction & Strategic Planning of the center.
Mr. Wang Tiekun underlined on the meeting that, established by the Ministry of Education and the university, the Overseas Chinese Language Research Center of Jinan University bore more responsibilities than its name had indicated though affiliated institutes of Jinan University it was, the sphere of its study should cover the whole overseas Chinese community.
He also expressed his anticipation that the Center should take the university as a platform to integrate the research capability in Chinese Language education overall China and the world so as to deepen the study on Chinese Language in overseas Chinese community.
