Mr. Liu Hui Hears Review Committee s Opinion on Teaching Material Chinese

Mr. Liu Hui, director of the Department of Culture and Education of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office had a meeting on March 29^th with the review committee of Chinese ---a set of Chinese language textbooks compiled by the College of Chinese Language & Culture of our university.

On the meeting, Mr. Liu Hui said the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office had been attaching great attention to the compliation of the textbook and thanked the review committee, the editing group and the related personnel for their long-term effort and contribution. Also, the six experts present on the meeting said that the textbook Chinese, with rich content, flexible practices, was a successful textbook for overseas Chinese language and culture teaching. Still, they proposed many opinions for amendment.

Chinese, which is a Chinese language and culture teaching material complied especially for overseas Chinese community by Chinese Language & Culture College is a task assigned by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. The textbook is published in 48 volumes by Jinan University Publishing Co. Since its first edition was issued in 1997, the textbook has been met with warm welcome in U.S, Australia, New Zealand, Japan etc. More than 5,000,000 volumes have been sold out. Also, the amendment for volume 1 to 6 has been finished.
