University Heads Attend Inaugural Meeting of JNU Japan Alumni Association
The Jinan University Japanese Alumni Association was founded on November 3rd. Commissioned by our university, Mr. Lu Daxiang, the vice president, Mr. An Heng, director of the Office of Jinan University Alumni Association and Mr. Xie Tian, the deputy director of the Admission Office attended the inaugural meeting. Present on the ceremony included also the Mr. Chen Kunwang, member of the board of Trustees of our university and Honorary Director of the General Association of Overseas Chinese in Tokyo, Mr. Fu Yiheng, director of the General Association of Overseas Chinese in Tokyo and member of the Board of Trustees of our university, Ms. Yu Shuhuan, Counsel General and Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, and representatives from Chinese Communities in Tokyo, sister universities, friendly units and friendly personages, our alumni in Japan etc.
The inaugural meeting was commenced in the new alma mater. Ms. Fan Weiling, the director of the Japanese Alumni Association, gave a speech in retrospect from the preparation to the founding of the Association, and introduced the leading organization and members of it. She also had retrospection to her happy days in Jinan University, and called for all alumni in Japan contributed their parts in building ties between the University and the local communities, and in the development and prosperity of the University and the local communities.
Also, Ms. Yu Shuyuan, the Counsel General, Mr. Fu Yiheng and Mr. Lu Daxiang delivered enthusiastic lectures.
Mr. Lu Daxiang, in his speech expressed his thanks to the Chinese Embassy in Japan, Chinese communities in Japan, friendly units and personages for their long-term support and concerns to our University. He also encouraged our alumni in Japan to work hard and make contributions to local communities. Also, Mr. Lu also introduced the recent development and achievements the university attained to the audience.
Besides the General Alumni Association, more than 10 regional organizations including Hong Kong Alumni Association, Macao Alumni Association, Beijing Alumni Association, Shanghai Alumni Association, Hainan Alumni Association, Shenzhen Alumni Association, South California Association, Sydney Alumni Association etc have sent congratulation telegrams.
Xinhua News Agency and a Chinese newspaper in Tokyo have covered the activities of the delegation and the founding of the Japanese Alumni Association.
