4 SYSU Professors Elected 2009 New Century Ten Million Talent Project
The candidate list for the 2009 New Century Ten Million Talent Project was released recently. Prof. Hu Jianxun from the School of Mathematics & Computational Science, Prof. Yang Guowei from the School of Physics & Engineering, Prof. Song Erwei from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, and Prof. Liu Qiang from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center were among the list.
Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Human Recourses and Social Security, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, National Development and Reform Commission, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Association of Science and Technology, the New Century Ten Million Talent Project is a national talent project aims at strengthening the building of high-quality talents with expertise in technology, promoting the nurturing of a group of innovative and international-acclaimed technological experts and leading academics with both high ability and integrity, and providing high-level backbone human recourses for the economic, scientific and technological and social development in China. Candidates for the New Century Ten Million Talent Project are elected every two year. The first batch of candidates was elected in 2002. Up to date, 13 scholars from SYSU have been elected candidates of the project.
