Sun Yat-sen University Library On The List For National Ancient Books Restoration Centres

Through on-the-spot observation and evaluation of experts, the Ministry of Culture has announced recently the first batch of name list for the National Ancient Books Restoration centers . The Ancient Books Restoration Centre of SYSU library was on the list owing to its outstanding strength, it is the only center selected of the national college system. And it has been a second honor for the Sun Yat-sen University Library since it s nomination in 2008 as a Key Institute of National Ancient Books Preservation . Twelve institutes, including the National Library, were selected as National Ancient Books Restoration Centres.
As the only selected National Ancient Books Restoration Centre of the national college system, the Sun Yat-sen University Library will mainly undertake the ancient book restoration tasks of organization, planning, guidance and implementation of the college system and South China regions. And it will also undertake the restoration tasks of national rare ancient books with other National Ancient Books Restoration Centers.
After years of construction, the Ancient Books Restoration Centre of SYSU library has become a national first-class ancient books restoration lab of world advanced standards. Covering up to 500 square meters, the lab integrates ancient books restoration, calligraphy and painting mounting, personnel training, academic research and scientific experiment as a whole, the lab boasts national superb ancient books restoration experts with high leveled restoration and technical strength.

The Ancient Books Restoration Centre of SYSU library has undertaken nationwide ancient books restoration training missions in helping affiliated organizations cultivating talents and solving restoration issues from time to time. Meanwhile, the Ancient Books Restoration Centre of SYSU library has also built academic research, staff exchange, technical cooperation and training relationship with the United States, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Macau and other countries and regions, making a widespread international influence.
