The First "Chinese Public Management Scholars Seminar was Held at SYSU

Sponsored by the School of Politics and Public Administration of SYSU, Public Administration Centre of SYSU, China Institute of Public Administration in America and the School of Public Policy and Management of Xi'an Jiaotong University, the first "Chinese public management scholars Seminar "was held on the south campus of SYSU from May 28th to 29th. Over 50 people attended the seminar, including Chinese scholars of public administration from America, Britain, Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland, addressing issues of government transformation and national management over the past 30 years since the reform and opening up. Huang Daren, president of SYSU, Xia Shuzhang, Honorary President of Chinese Public Administration Society, Journal of Politics and Public Administration Honorary President, and Honorary Director of Research Center of public administration of SYSU, Hou Yilin, president of China Institute of Public Administration in America, Zhu Zhengwei, Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management of Xi'an Jiaotong University and others attended the seminar and gave speeches. The seminar was presided over by Ma Jun, director of Research Center of public administration of SYSU.
The First
The speech session was taken over by Prof Lan Zhiyong from Renmin University of China. Professor Wang Shaoguang from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Zhou Xueguang from Stanford University, Professor Ma Jun from Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Zang Xiaowei from the University of Sheffield and Professor Xu Renhui from Shu University of Taiwan carried out discussions on "Government and Politics in Contemporary China important issues". Subsequently there were eight sub-seminars separated, addressing issues including "Governance in China: Challenges and Response", "Public Finance", "China Reform", "Chinese society", "public policy research," "Supply of public services" "non-profit organization and collaborative governance," "political, governance and disciplinary development". Scholars from different regions expressed their views actively on the research questions, research ideas, case evidence, and the conclusions and so on.
