President GONG Ke Visited the United States

From November 27 to December 1, 2006, a delegation from Tianjin University (TU) headed by President GONG Ke, visited the United States of America. Taking the opportunity of attending the IEEE Globalcom 2006 conference, President Gong paid an official visit to the University of California, Berkeley (UCBerkeley) on November 27, Rice University and Texas A&M University (TAMU) on December 1.

The delegation also met with TU alumni in Silicon Valley, Houston as well as TAMU. The three distinguished universities extended warm welcome to President Gong and his delegation, and productive discussions about substantial collaboration were held. President highlighted the great opportunity for Tianjin and Tianjin University with the development of New Coastal Area, and exchanged views with the senior administrators on American side on the win-win collaboration in terms of joint research, young faculty exchange and co-supervision of Ph.

All the parties agreed to strengthen the partnerships through high-level, large-scale substantial cooperation, which may be initiated in the fields of renewable energy, wireless network technology and its application to intelligent infrastructure, regional planning and architectural design as well as environmental technologies.

During the meetings with TU alumni, President Gong sincerely thanked all the alumni for their continued attention and support to the university, and expressed his hope to realize the university s betterment with joint efforts of all the members of the TU family .
