On November 12, a delegation headed by His Majesty JULIUS LEKAKENY OLE SUNKULI, Kenya Ambassador to China visited Tianjin University. Professor Xiaotang Hu, Vice President of Tianjin University welcomed the guests on behalf of the University. Joining him were Mr. Shujun Zhang, Dean of International Education School, Mr. Jinhe Chen, Deputy Dean of International Education School, and Professor Fuling Yang, Director of International Cooperation Office.
Professor Xiaotang Hu briefed the guests on the University history, disciplinary development and the recruitment and education of international students. He expressed his welcome to more Kenyan students to Tianjin University for Chinese language studies and a variety of degree courses.
Ambassador SUNKULI spoke highly of the international education in Tianjin University. He expressed his hope to send more Kenyan students to Tianjin University under Chinese Government Scholarship for the reason that the Kenyan students trained at Tianjin University demonstrate a solid foundation of fundamental knowledge that has been deeply appreciated by employers. After the meeting, Ambassador SUNKULI visited the international students accommodation located at the School of International Education.

Kenya now has a population of 38,760,000. Since 2006, about 15 Kenyan students have studied in Tianjin University for Chinese language, preparatory courses, or undergraduate studies.
