The foundation stone for Yaounde International Centre for Handicraft was laid, recently, at a formal ceremony, which was lead by Jules Doret Ndongo, the Secretary General, on behalf of the Prime Minister.
This Centre is a joint collaboration between Yaounde City council and the Ministry of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicraft. This project is the first among the planned 10 handicraft centres in the ten provinces.
This is part of Government’s efforts to develop the handicraft sector and make it one the top contributors to the country’s economy.
Ndongo urged all the industries and Ministries to support these steps and even participate to make this Handicraft Centre an enormous success.
Located at the Djoungolo valley, the International Handicraft Centre will be set up at the southern end of the Parc Polyvalent and is expected to occupy more than 100 hectares of land.
