Pakistan : Draft Textile Policy to boost quality production

A high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, recently, drafted and proposed Textile Policy 2007.
Government official confirmed to Fibre2fashion that they were awaiting the approval of this policy and were optimistic about it.
This new scheme will guarantee access to various categories of financing facilities to textile sector like external commercial borrowings and local long term financing for purchase of plants and machinery.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz explained that policy included a detailed plan which would help create five model garment factories, setting of weaving city, formation of Pakistan textile research and compliance organization and audit of processing industry for efficient and economic use of precious chemicals.
A new scheme will be introduced, which will help declare textile parks as special economic zone, setting up of state of the art textile laboratory at NTU Faisalabad, horizontal and vertical integration to balance textile value chain, specialized garment training institute for females, one window facility for provision of required infrastructure and standardization of machinery and equipment.
This policy would cater for short, medium and long term to increase the production of cotton, improve value added products, productivity and competitiveness of the textile sector.
