The carpet industry in the country can now heave a sigh of relief. The invention of a new knife that reduces the time it takes to complete a carpet has come as a boon for the industry.
The new knife trims down the number of knots in every stroke. This is a departure from traditional carpet weaving methods, in which weavers had to make a double knot and then cut the thread using an unsafe knife.
On the other hand, the new knife is furnished with a safety hook that prevents artisans from injuring their fingers.
The inventor of the knife, 30-year-old Hasan Heidarpour, said that orders for the knife have poured in from across Iran and even countries like Belarus and Turkey.
