Jun 24, 2010 - A closed brick plant that once employed thousands of workers in northeast Missouri reopens Friday amid a celebration of the 100th anniversary of its founding.
A.P. Green Refractories, in the city of Mexico, was one of the world's largest fire brick manufacturers before closing in 2002.
Former company manager Frank Cordie is reopening the plant. Cordie plans to employ up to 80 workers focusing on residential and commercial projects.
Gov. Jay Nixon and Sen. Kit Bond are among the officials invited to attend the 11 a.m. ceremony in Mexico.
