Belgian company explores dolomite and limestone in Mahrah

Sep. 7, 2010 - Arabian Limestone and Dolomite Co., a Belgian company, has carried out exploration activities on limestone and dolomite in the areas of Ras Darjah and Ras Shirween in Mahrah province during last year.
A report issued by Yemen Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Board , pointed out that the company has carried out drilling works for making an industrial experiment.
The company also collected six samples from different depths to assess the mechanical behavior of rocks in order to be applied in future in mining and treatment tasks, in addition to implementing mid-industrial tests in Belgium and India.
The company's exploratory studies and chemical analyses have shown that the raw material is characterized by chemical features that are good and suitable for various industrial applications, especially iron and steel.
It is noteworthy that the Belgian company is a subsidiary of one of the largest companies in the world in the field of mining and processing limestone and dolomite.
