ORIND to begin refractory production from its Lathikata unit

Sep. 24, 2010 - The Management of Saswata International Limited, formerly ORIND, the state's oldest private sector refractory industry, has agreed to start its normal production from its Lathikata unit in Sundargarh district from next month.
A tripartite agreement was reached at a high-level meeting held yesterday at Bhubaneswar under the presidentship of state's minister of state for labour and employment, Puspendu Singh Deo.ORIND Chairman Rabin Jhunjhunwala has agreed to start normal production which had remained closed since last seven months.
The salary and other dues of 1000 strong regular and daily wage workers, pending since February 2010 would be paid on instalment basis from current month.Electricity dues of about Rs 43 lakh will be paid to WESCO to restore power supply to the industry which was disconnected for non-payment of dues. The Provident Fund (PF) dues of regular and retired employees amounting to Rs.4.5 crore will be deposited with P.F. department of Government of India.While the state's Labour Commissioner represented from the state government, the leaders of HMS, CITU and AITUC-led trade unions functioning in the industry have signed the agreement.
