Masteel has ordered a duplex RH plant for the secondary metallurgy

Oct. 14, 2010 - Maanshan Iron & Steel Co Ltd located at Maanshan in China has awarded SMS Mevac, Germany a contract for the supply of a duplex RH plant with burner lance system. Commissioning of the duplex RH plant is scheduled for the second half of 2011.
The duplex RH plant is designed for the treatment of heats with a nominal weight of 120 tonnes and features two treatment positions. Each treatment position includes a hydraulically actuated ladle lifting system a burner lance and a vacuum lock system for the addition of ferroalloys. The vacuum will be generated by means of a 4 stage steam ejector vacuum pump with variable pressure reduction for optimized process control.
The duplex RH plant will be part of a new electric steelmaking shop which is going to produce among others starting material for the fabrication of high speed train wheels.

The scope of supply includes the complete basic engineering, main parts of the detail engineering, the delivery of key components of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment, the complete level 1 and level-2 automation system as well as supervision of erection and commissioning.
Furthermore SMS Mevac will supply the automatic inert gas couplings of the AGC 4000 type within the entire steelmaking shop.
