Dec. 9, 2010 - Up to now, Baosteel iron making plant third blast furnaces have reached 5900 days of service time and produced more than 57,850,000 tonnes of iron and unit furnace iron production capacity has reached 13,300 tonnes, all three indicators breaking records.
The third blast furnaces were ignited and put to operation in September 20th, 1994 as Baosteel self integrated construction with equipment localization rate of up to 95%. 16 year since ignition, they have stable operation with economic indicators remaining at world advanced level in large blast furnace field and with part of the index at world leading level. Among them, the unit furnace iron production efficiency, blast furnace utilization coefficient, PCI, low silicon smelting technology and large blast furnace longevity all break new records.
Particularly in later service period, Baosteel iron making plant high utilization factor research under high pulverized coal injection technology is successfully practiced in blast furnaces and makes a breakthrough so that the long-term utilization coefficient remains at 2.4 or more with coal injection ratio up to 200 kilogram.
Maintenance technology of the third blast furnaces is the first of its kind. In 2004 and 2009, the blast furnaces implemented wind-down material off-line cooling wall replacement operation and the blast furnaces returned to normal production level in the shortest possible time with minimum yield loss. The success of overall on-line stave change broke up the restriction that large blast furnace stave couldn't be replaced on line, restored the ideal shapes of third blast furnaces, eliminated the problem hampering high stability and productivity and laid a solid foundation for blast furnace high productivity and longevity.
Since its operation, the third blast furnaces are connected with blast furnace longevity technology. From the blast furnace equipment maintenance to the operating principles, Baosteel has always been committed to stable, high quality, long life and low consumption. A longevity research team was set up to work on the additional cooling effect, deep low feed line cooling wall replacement, the reduction of off-air rate, fast and stable re wind under high-PCI conditions and other technologies to ensure that the third blast furnace have efficient production and longevity.
In the later period, the third blast furnaces served in stable furnace conditions and also made an important contribution to Baosteel silicon steel production. Since 2008, Baosteel oriented silicon steel hot metal is all supplied by blast furnaces and part of the efficient high grade non-oriented silicon steel hot metal is also provided by blast furnaces. Ordinary oriented silicon steel hot metal qualified rate raises from 7.7% in the last year to the current 75%, oriented silicon steel with high magnetic induction hot metal qualified rate raises from 20% last year to the current 80%, meeting the steel smelting and silicon steel needs.
