SAIL's RDCIS and REFCOM (India) signed MoU for burner blocks

Jan. 11, 2011 - SAIL s R&D Centre for Iron & Steel (RDCIS) has signed an MoU with REFCOM (India) Pvt. Ltd., for joint development of castable based preshaped/prefired burner blocks for reheating/heat treatment furnaces in steel plants.
With this agreement is expected to enable RDCIS to improve burner block life leading to higher availability of reheating furnace and reduction in refractory consumption & refractory cost.
SAIL s RDCIS and REFCOM have, in the past, collaborated on successful development of LC/ULCC products in 1989 and Self flow castables in 2002 for mutual benefits.
In 2004, REFCOM obtained the license from RDCIS, SAIL for manufacturing of Spinnel castables and design configuration of modified impact pads for use in Steel Plants.
The MoU was signed by A.S. Mathur, Executive Director In-charge of RDCIS and Mr. Akash Singhania, Director of REFCOM.
