Jan. 17, 2011 - Melbourne-based Strategic Energy Resources commenced drilling at Uley s Main Road graphite deposit on Saturday 15th of January in order to confirm the shape of the resource.
Weather had delayed the drilling by several months, however the company anticipates that the program will take approximately two weeks.
A program of at least 10 diamond drill holes will be undertaken and results are expected during the first quarter.
Located only 23 kilometres from Port Lincoln in South Australia, Uley is recognised as a substantive and significant area of graphite mineralisation.
The company expects to upgrade the resource as well as have the opportunity to undertake pit design, which will feed into the mining information for the feasibility study.
Coffey Mining is assisting SER in planning and the drilling and will review both the resource figures and pit designs.
Strategic Energy is focussing on the Main Road deposit in order to expedite production of graphite. The sumps for the drill holes at N6148618 and E564247 have encountered massive graphite at surface, similar to that found in the dugout section at Main Roads.
On January 22 2010, the total resource at Main Road was upgraded to 4 million tonnes (Mt) at 8.1% graphitic carbon, which was a 25% increase (Indicated Resource : 2.2Mt at 7.5% graphitic carbon and Inferred Resource : 1.8Mt at 8.9% graphitic carbon).
