Windalco Kirkvine bauxite plant to reopen in July

Feb. 17, 2011 - UC RUSAL has announced that the Windalco Kirkvine Works Plant in Manchester is to be reopened on July 1st 2011.
As per report, production at the bauxite facility was temporarily suspended in April 2009 due to what the management said were efforts to cut cost at the site.
UC RUSAL said that the reopening of the plant is subject to approval by international lenders and further discussions by the company with its partners on the project.
The company said that it will cost approximately USD 9.5 million to restart operations at Kirkvine this year while the plant s commissioning budget is approximately USD 17.5 million.
UC RUSAL said that the total capacity of the Windalco Kirkvine Works Plant is approximately 600,000 tonnes of alumina per year. Production at the plant is planned to be approximately 252,000 tonnes of alumina.
