Apr. 6, 2011 - Sheffield Resources new exploration is aiming to confirm the results of historical drilling which outlined a zone of heavy mineral bearing sand 4 kilometres long by 600 metres, and up to 1,000 metres wide.
Sheffield said the grades are typically 2-4% HM, however higher grade zones occur within the deposit.
Yandanooka has relatively high value mineral assembly with an average 13.1% zircon, 2.9% rutile, 59.6% ilmenite and 11.2% leucoxene.
Sheffield will use the drilling results to facilitate the estimation of JORC Inferred Resource and to target potential extensions to the mineralisation.
Yandanooka is located 50 kilometres northeast of Eneabba in Western Australia.
The site is situated 2.5 kilometres from a railway line connecting to the Geraldton port 140 kilometres away.
Yandanooka is one of five projects set to be drilled within the next few months.
Bruce McQuitty, managing director, said the drilling is timely given recent increases in zircon and titanium mineral prices.
