Mar. 21, 2011 - With the acquisition of slab maker Hormozgan Steel, Mobarakeh is now the largest steelmaker in the Middle East, according to a local report. Mobarakeh's present capacity has now reached 7 mln tpa.
Hormozgan's plant includes two 825,000 tpa Midrex DRI modules, a steelmaking plant with two electric arc furnaces, two ladle furnaces and a two-stand continuous slab caster.
According to its Managing Director, Mobarakeh's long term goal is to achieve a capacity close of 25 mln tpa.
