March 19 to 20-in order to expand cooperation and exchanges with African countries on tropical agricultural technology, experts of livestock, vegetable and cassava from Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) visited the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and signed the Cooperation MOU with the ILRI, marking a new start of the cooperation between the two research institutions.
ILRI is one of the 15 research centers of CGIAR. During this visit, experts from CATAS held meetings with ILRI s director for bio-science center (East Africa and Central Africa), Dr. Segenet Kelemu, as well as other colleagues. Both sides introduced their advantages and experience in international exchange, and reached initial consensus on project cooperation, joint training and symposium, bringing up of post-graduate students, exchange of scholars and improvement of each other s core competitiveness.
In addition, the CATAS delegation also held meetings with Prof. Agnes W. Mwang O mbe, dean of the School of Agronomy and Veterinary Science of the University of Nairobi and other staff of the school, with the result of a cooperation consensus on forage, livestock, vegetable, cassava, cashew, coconut and coffee as the foundation for future cooperation and exchange.
