One more FMD Outbreak in China

CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have reported a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in Gansu.

The World Organisation for Animal Health reports that the latest outbreak of FMD took place on 7 April in Gansu. The affected population comprises swine.
Out of the entire population, 640 cases were detected and 831 of the animals showed susceptibility to the virus. All 831 of the animals were destroyed.
The cause of the outbreak has not yet been identified. Real-time PCR and virus isolation tests were carried out in Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, confirming the presence of FMD virus, serotype O in swine.
