KFC agrees to raise workers' pay after negotiations with Chinese trade union

SHENYANG, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Representatives of a branch of the U.S. fast food chain KFC in northeast China's Shenyang City signed Thursday the company's first collective labor contract in China's mainland, in which it agreed to raise workers' wages as demanded by a local trade union.

According to the contract, the company with 2,000 employees on its payroll sets a minimum wage at 900 yuan (131.7 U.S. dollars) a month instead of the previously offered 700 yuan. It also promises an annual pay raise of 5 percent.
