China: TESCO signs deal for farm

TESCO will jointly expand China's biggest self-owned farm in the Xiang an District of Xiamen. The retailer signed a contract with Xiamen Ruyi Group last Friday for this purpose.
The farm will provide fresh vegetable at a low price for the company's stores which are planned in Xiamen and other hypermarkets in East China.

TESCO's self-owned farm will be located in the Industrial Park of Maxiang Town in Xiamen s Xiang an District, covering a wide space of about 3,000 acres.

This farm will mainly produce 12 kinds of vegetables, including eggplants, hot peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots.
The TESCO Xiamen store is expected to open at the end of this year, according to the staff of TESCO.
