The Ministry of Agriculture Takes Measures to Deal with Heavy Rain

Since the heavy rain on June 18, the Ministry of Agriculture, along with relevant local authorities, has scaled up measures to deal with the disaster and emergency response according to the IV level response to major natural disasters in agriculture, and dispatched working groups to the fields, livestock barns, and fish ponds to work with local people so as to scale up response to the heavy rain and strengthen the work for disaster relief.

In crop planting: since the disaster ocurred, local agricultural authorities have implemented measures of disaster relief according to the instruction of MOA.

In agricultural reclamation: emergency working groups have been set up in farms in 5 provinces including Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Zhejiang, with around-the-clock shifts to inspect risky reservoirs.

In fishery: fishermen have been guided to cement their aquacultural facilities, insure that dead fish are dealt with measures for no harm, sterilize fish ponds, and adjust supply of fry so as to prepare for production after disaster.
