Jack Gao from Goodfarmer says that the price of garlic is very high this season due to a small crop yield which is not enough to satisfy the market demand. This means people are being very careful when trading because dealing in big amounts can also lead to big loses. He expects the price to increase further as the demand increases. The price of garlic has increased by 170% since the start of the season said Mr Gao.
The new apple season is just beginning for Goodfarmer, the company are still loading some of the old Fuji apples from AC rooms, but the new Gala season will start although Mr Gao expects shipping to prove difficult due to small volumes. The China Red Star and Huaniu will be harvested mid August, with the new Fuji starting in October.
Goodfarmer are already well underway with their pear harvest. The early Su and Nashi pears are already being shipped. The company's main pear variety is the Ya which will start in August. It will begin with small sizes like 112 and 96 and go on to bigger sizes.
