Real Madrid enjoyed a comfortable 4- 1 win against Real Sociedad on Sunday night to keep their slim hopes of winning the La Liga title alive.
Goals from Kaka, Emanuel Adebayor and two from Cristiano Ronaldo, gave Real Madrid three points which keep them seven behind league leaders FC Barcelona.
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho rang the changes among a side he has said was suffering from tiredness. With Alvaro Arbeloa replacing the suspended Sergio Ramos, while Ezequiel Garay also had a rare start in central defense.
Meanwhile Sami Khedira was ruled out through injury and Lassana Diarra partnered former Real Sociedad player Xabi Alonso in central midfield. Kaka also started along with recent arrival Emanuel Adebayor.
The visitors meanwhile started with Raul Tamudo in attack for the injured Joseba Llorente, but the game was over as a contest by halftime as Madrid were 3-0 ahead.
Kaka opened the scoring on eight minutes after the visiting defense failed to clear a cross into the area and he scored with a left foot volley.
Cristiano Ronaldo doubled the lead after exchanging passes with Kaka and scoring with a left foot shot.
Real Sociedad had lost 5-0 away to Barcelona earlier in the season and a lack of aggression was again evident against one of the big sides as Ronaldo was allowed all the time he wanted to pick his space.
Ronaldo added his second of the night before halftime when he made no mistake when given a free header from a corner kick taken by Mesut Ozil.
Kaka hit the post early in the second half, but the game was in danger of dying out until Arbeloa scored an own goal to give Real Sociedad a slight chance of getting back into the game.
However, with Madrid defending solidly, the side from San Sebastian were unable to score a second goal and Adebayor sealed Madrid's win with his second goal in two games two minutes from time.
Real's next game is away to Espanyol.
