Southwest China's Yunnan Province earned 100.6 billion yuan (15.2 billion U.S. dollars) through tourism in 2010, including 1.32 billion U.S. dollars from overseas visitors, the local tourism bureau said Sunday.
The total tourism revenue was up from 43 billion yuan in 2005, and earnings from overseas tourists, up from 530 million U.S. dollars five years ago.
In 2011, Yunnan plans to receive 3.63 million visits from abroad, up 10.3 percent on 2010, and 152 million visits from other part of China, up 10 percent year on year. Its total tourism revenue is expected to go up 12 percent to 113 billion yuan.
The province plans to double the 2010 number of visits and revenue from the tourism sector in 2015.
