Sino-Japanese Trade Statistics Technical Cooperation Project Mission Visited China

Sino-Japanese trade statistics technical cooperation project mission paid a visit to China from 10 to 15 December, discussed the current implementation of working plan and results of the " Consummate the Business Statistics of Technical Cooperation Projects" (hereinafter referred to as "Project") by consensus, consultations in the technical cooperation possibilities in the field of business statistics, and carried through the business statistics and technical training. Members of the Mission were from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

On December 12, Messrs. Du Weiqun, Director-General, Department of International Cooperation of NBS, presided the meeting, Song Yuezheng, Director-General, Department of Trade and External Economic Relations Statistics of NBS, introduced the business statistics on China's situation and tasks facing, and to sum up the implementation of the Projects. Both sides believed that the Project played an important role for improving and perfecting the business statistics; in order to enhance the effectiveness of the Project, it is necessary to extend the implementation period. After consultation, both sides was agreed with the one-year extension of the project agreement unanimously, and signed the "Memorandum of Agreement on Improving the Business Statistics of Technical Cooperation Projects Between National Bureau of Statistics of China and Japanese Mission"; furthermore, both sides also discussed the 2008 annual project implementation plan. Mr. Lin Tao, Assistant Counsel, Department of Trade and External Economic Relations Statistics of NBS, also attended the meeting.

The mission also visited the Tianjin Municipalities Bureau of Statistics, and conducted the technical cooperation projects business statistics courses inXi an, Shaanxi.
