Mengniu s first batch of the relief materials arrived at the disaster area to urgently support Yushu in Qinghai Province

When the pain of Wenchuan earthquake is still in the heart of every Chinese, and the Southwest drought is also the deep concern for all sections of the society, the earthquake in Yushu tore our wound again. At 7:49 on April 14, an earthquake with M 7.1 occurred in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous County in Qinghai Province with heavy casualties. The national leaders paid great attention, and all levels of government started the emergency preparedness to immediately join the relief work. The Chinese dairy industry represented by Mengniu sent the milk in first time to the disaster area which was short in food.

The natural disaster will never give people the time to wallow in the pain. The mission of the relief work fell upon everyone and every enterprise. On that day, the milk we had prepared was not able to be sent in at all." It is known that after the earthquake, Xining branch of Mengniu started to urgently prepare the materials of milk, and sent the first batch of 1000 boxes of milk to Qinghai Red Cross in the shortest possible time. The reporter saw that there are different types of relief milk which also could show the relief tasks were really emergent and arduous.

Miao Chonggang, the deputy director of Emergency Rescue Department of China Seismological Bureau said that the seismic intensity reached IX. According to the description of Chinese seismic intensity scale, IX means the walking people fall down, houses structures are damaged severely, buildings partly collapse and difficult to repair; archways and chimneys collapse, railways bend; and landslides occur commonly. The earthquake has caused 15,000 houses to collapse and 100,000 victims to need resettling.

The reporter learned from Mengniu Dairy Group that, after the first batch of 1000 boxes of milk being delivered to the disaster areas, Xining branch of Mengniu was still in an urgent to deploy and sent the relief materials to the disaster area. Meanwhile, they appealed to the industry and all the society to contribute to the relief work. It is known that in the Southwest drought, Xining branch of Mengniu had donated the milk to the disaster area.
