Agreement-Signing Ceremony for China-France Joint Laboratory of Sustainable Energy Held in Paris

The ceremony was held on Dec. 9. Prof. LU Yongxiang, President of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), and Madam Catherine Brechignac, Chairperson of Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique(CNRS), France, signed an agreement on the establishing of the China-France Joint Laboratory(CFJL) on behalf of CAS and CNRS, respectively.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. KONG Quan, Chinese Ambassador to France, and other officials of the Chinese Embassy, Prof. ZHANG Tao, Director of DICP and Director of CFJL representing the China side, Prof. Ling-ai Luo, Professor of Universit de Savoie, France, and Director of CFJL representing the France side, and other French representatives of the relevant institutions.

DICP is entrusted as the leading institute of the China side, and other Chinese partners joining the CFJL include CAS Process Engineering Institute, CAS Guangzhou Energy Institute, CAS Electricity Engineering Institute, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University, Eastern China University of Technology, Tianjin University, Zhejiang University, and Central China Scientific & Technological University.

French institutions joining the CFJL are relevant institutes of CNRS, Universit de Savoie, Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, Universit Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, and Ecole Nationale Sup rieure de M canique et d'A rotechnique. All these partner institutions of both sides will make good use of the CFJL as a platform for cooperative researches, focusing on the key objective of sustainable energy which will involve investigations of process intensification, solar energy, fuel cells, hydrogen energy, bio-fuels, long-distance transmission of energy under high temperatures, optimal matching of energy, and related technologies for gas purification.

It is hoped that the cooperative research programs will make contributions in the solving of global energy and environment problems.
