Annual Symposium of the "CAS-BP Clean Energy Facing the Future" Program

The Annual Symposium of this cooperation program between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the British Petroleum Co. was held in Dalian on 24th and 25th of February. About 20 British scientists, including Mr. CHEN Liming, President of BP (China) Co., were resent in the Symposium. Chinese participants, about 40 in number, mainly came from DICP, Tsinghua University, CAS Metal Institute, and the Chinese Science & Technology University, all are collaborating institutions of the Program.

During the Symposium, Prof. BAO Xinhe of DICP, Chief Scientist of the Program, gave a summarizing report on the progress of the Program, especially focusing on the advances made by the sub-programs which have been rescheduled according to the foregoing proposal of the Academic Committee of the Program.

Then, oral and poster presentations were delivered by leaders of the sub-programs, illustrating the achievements and the following plans of their research work. On his address, Mr. CHEN Liming highly evaluated the research force of DICP as well as the effective collaborations between the Chinese and British scientists, and expected that more fruitful achievements would be harvested in the coming future.

In the afternoon of February 25, the Academic Committee of the Program had a meeting to assess the progress of the research topics, and to propose on the research schedules in following stage, with stresses on the importance of research safety and the administrating of intellectual property rights.
