Deputy Mayor Tang Dengjie visits Steel Union

On June 24, Mr. Tang Dengjie, deputy mayor of Shanghai, visited Steel Union, a business park developed by Forte in Baoshan District. Mr. Zhang Xinsheng, Deputy Director of Municipal Commission of Commerce, Ms. Li Xiaomei, Director of Modern Service Industry Promotions Office, together with officials from Baoshan District and Yanghang County, accompanied Mr. Tang on his visit.

Mr. Liu Yicheng, Vice President of Forte, and Mr. Huang Jianbo, Chairman of Steel Union, briefed on the construction of the first phase of Steel Union. Mr. Tang highly praised the way Forte built a modern service business park combining real estate and the local iron and steel industry.

Mayor Tang took great interest inspecting the Steel Spot Exchange and Steelyuan, a B2B e-commerce company, which represent the mechanism Steel Union established that combines tangible and intangible, spot and future transactions. He also visited the large SOEs at Steel Union, including China Rail Material Company and Baotou Steel Company.

At the office of Mysteel, China s biggest portal in the steel industry, Mayor Tang acknowledged that Mysteel had created a good business model for the steel industry service sector, and Steel Union had set up a good sample to build a large steel industry information platform anchored by large service providers such as Mysteel.

Mayor Tang encouraged the team to offer better properties, facilities and professional services in the second phase, and to better service the customers by consolidating the four centers in the park, i.e. information center, transaction center, financial service center as well as convention center. He expected the park to be built into a nationally renowned modern service center providing the most comprehensive varieties and specifications of steel products with most accountable standards and best professional services, and attracting world-class steelmakers, trading companies and technology R&D institutions. Mayor Tang also required that related municipal government departments and the district government carefully study and offer supporting policies for modern service industries to key business parks such as Steel Union in order to expedite the clustering of modern service industries.
