After more than two months of competition, the First Comprehensive Quality Match for High School in Dalian, starting in September, ended successfully on December 15 in Dalian No. 44 High School.

The match has been paid close attention and greatly supported by leaders at various levels and at all the high schools in Dalian. Vice Mayor Zhu Chengqing watched the final contest on site; Ma Ruichun, director of the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Education, attached importance to it, guided making the plan in person, watched the final and awarded the winners at the ceremony; Vice Directors Yang Yuequan and Zhao Yubao were also present at the final and awarded the winners.

The purpose of the match is to deepen high school curriculum reform, to improve students integrated knowledge and their spirit of innovation, to prepare students to achieve comprehensive personalized development; to build a platformforthe growth ofoutstanding students, to broaden thechannels forpersonnel training and to improve students comprehensive ability.

On getting the notice for the match, educational administrative departments at all levels and the schools directly under the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Education started to organize preliminaryselections, with 164 students in 41 teams from 34 high schools selected for the municipal match. In the history of Dalian s high schooleducation, this stood out as a large and high level match for the students to show their comprehensive ability. There were 5 competitions in the match: Speech in Chinese, Speech in English, Knowledge Contest, Thematic Debates and Talent Show. Each playermust participate in all these 5 competitions; the cumulativescores from all 5 will result in individual and team awards; those ones winning the first prize in each competition will be on the list for the final.

In the match, students experienced a severe test with those 5 competitions. It was impressive that, under such game pressure, the players showed their talent and potential differently from what they were like in class. They obtained experience, learned more, broadened theirhorizons, enhanced their sense of teamwork and improved their confidenceand ability. The contest became the favorite of the students.

After the match, a performance by Dalian No. 8 High School, Dalian No. 11 High School, Dalian No. 15 High School, Dalian No. 44 High School, Dalian Business School, Dalian Cooking Vocational Secondary Technical School and Dalian Women's Vocational Secondary Technical Schoolalso receivedwarm applause fromthe audience.

The winners of the First Prize in the match are: Zhang Haotian, Qu Boning and Jiang Li from Dalian No.24 High School; Liu Zizheng and Song Chengjie from the Middle School Affiliated to Liaoning Normal University; Ding Zhaoyu and An Ruochen from Jinzhou High School; Xing Zengwei and Li Zhen from Dalian No.23 High School; Huang Shuangshuang from Dalian No.48 High School; Wang Yaohui and Shi Yanan from Dalian No.8 High School; Zhao Yang and Man Chunyan from Dalian No.11 High School; Chen Qi from DDA No.1 High School; and Tang Guodong from Pulandian No. 2 High School.
