Delegation from the Confucius Institute at Sapporo University Visits GDUFS

Nov 29th- On November 27th, the sixth board meeting of the Confucius Institute at SapporoUniversity took place on the North campus. Vice President Gu Yele, Japanese representatives and other officials attended the meeting.

The council first reviewed this year's achievements.The Confucius Institute extended its influence and attained a growing number of enrollments. Currently, the yearly enrollment of students at the Confucius Institute at SapporoUniversity is over 300, which ranked second place among all the Confucius Institutes in Japan. After looking at last year's success, the council made the budget for 2011 and adopted many proposals. Sapporo University will celebrate it's fifth year anniversary of the Confucius Institute in 2011, and the institute intends to hold an international seminar at that time. The council decided that the next board meeting would take place in October 2011 inJapan.

After the board meeting, President Zhong Weihe visited the Japanese representatives and extended his welcome to them. He stated that he felt very satisfied with the achievement of the Confucius Institute, and hoped that the two universities can strengthen their partnership in terms of students and faculty exchange as well as research cooperation. Chairman of the council Toshio Sato first showed thanks for GDUFS' arrangement of visiting the Shanghai Expo in October. He also stated that without GDUFS' contribution, the Confucius Institute could not have been so successful. He hopes that with GDUFS' continuous support, a rapid development and deep cooperation will be achieved.
