President Mark Erickson of Wittenberg University

On the afternoon of Oct. 18, Deputy Party Secretary of CJLU, Tao Weihua cordialy met with Dr. Mark Erickson, President of Wittenberg University. Both sides exchanged their opinion on setting up Confucian Institute issue. Zhang Xinjian, party secretary of College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Wang Jianqi, Vice-Dean of College of Foreign Languages, Wu Hongkuan, Directior of International Exchange and Cooperation Division as well as relevant faculty member participated in this meeting.
Tao Weihua expressed his warm welcome to President Mark Erickson attending to our school 30th anniversary. He said, CJLU have made great success in the past years. CJLU always sticks to the policy of opening to the outside world. In the past three decades, They have already set up cooperation relationship with over 20 countries, especially in the recent years, they have been close association between the two schools. Wittenberg University has a long history, focuses on the Liberal Arts, gives importance to students comprehensive quality. However, CJLU focuses on Engineering. We hope, we may have achieved the development in the field of Liberal Arts. Therefore, our two schools can help each other forward. He also expressed both sides could further deepen each other's understanding and cooperation by this meeting.


President Mark Erickson really appreciated and felt very honorable to have this opportunity to come to our school to celebrate this anniversary. He thought highly of our success. He considered our school is an excellent university, having a promising future. He was also really interested in setting up Confucian Institute with us. He hoped this project would be reached within a short time. Later, both sides continued to negotiate with the students and faculty exchange issue. Before ending the meeting, both sides expressed they would speed up the cooperative step in future.
