Happy Smile Humanitarian Medical Mission , co-hosted by China Population Welfare Foundation, American Alliance for Smiles and Wenzhou Medical College etc., lasts from May 25 to June 7, conducting operations on children who suffer from cleft lip and palate for free. This Medical mission is carried out by 39 surgeons, anesthesiologist and volunteers from Alliance for Smiles and medical staff from The Second Affiliated Hospital and The Affiliated Hospital of Stomatology.
Happy Smile Humanitarian Medical Mission is a charitable activity organized by China Population Welfare Foundation, which has already conducted free cleft-lip-and-palate repair operation for 1397 children since 2002. Alliance for Smile , as a charitable non-government organization, devotes itself to providing free operations for chidren who suffer from cleft lip and palate but can not afford such operations. This medical mission in Wenzhou has also received support and a donation of 100,000 US dollars from Wenzhou Yuyin Cause Advancement Association.
112 children have received free treatment from this mission, among them the youngest are only 2 and half months old and the oldest 18 years old. Besides repair operation, the mission also provides speech therapy and psychological counseling for the patients, helping them get rid of the shadow of the past, and return to a sound and happy normal life.
