President Qu Jia Awarded by the Special Olympics East Asia (SOEA)

Special Olympics East Asia (SOEA) regional office hosted an appreciation reception in honor of outstanding long-term services provided by regional volunteers and in appreciation of continued support from Chinese government departments, sponsoring corporations and educational organizations. President Qu jia of WMC was awarded for establishing the first Special Olympics Cooperation Center, and Vice President Lv Fan and Doctor Chen Hao from Wenzhou Medical College are awarded as representatives of regional volunteers.

The honored guests include Madam Sara Randt, wife of US Ambassador to China, Mr. Wang Xinxian, Party Secretary and Vice Chairman of China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), Madam Tang Xiaoquan, President of CDPF, Mr. Lv Shiming, Vice-President of CDPF, Mr. Jia Yong, Chairman of SOEA Regional Advisory Committee. They presented trophy to excellent regional coaches and volunteers and main sponsors, in recognition of their contribution made to the development of Special Olympics in the past few years.

The Special Olympics health Center, co-established by Special Olympics International, China Disabled Persons' Federation and Wenzhou Medical College had trained more than 100 volunteer doctors and provided health examination service for athletes participating the 12th Summer Special Olympics held in Shanghai in October, 2007.

The Regional Office has for a number of years received assistance as it promotes the Special Olympics movement in East Asia, particularly in China. Among such corporate sponsors are Newscorp, Bayer, Amway, Beijing Sports University, Boeing, Coca Cola (China) and Xinhua PR Newswire.
