Wenzhou Medical College Celebrates 50th Anniversary

At the celebration, congratulation letters were read aloud to the audience and speeches were made by President of Wenzhou Medical College and representatives of the government, overseas universities and alumni.

In President Qu Jia s speech, he reviewed the history and achievement of Wenzhou Medical College. The deeply-rooted pioneering and creative spirit of Wenzhou people is incorporated in WMC s course of development. It is with this spirit that we create several distinguished Wenzhou Mode in education and research, that we build our school into a medicine-oriented multi-disciplinary university with its own features. He also said Wenzhou Medical College should make greater contribution to the society by seeking excellence in education and research and adapting to the actual needs of economic and social development.

President Elizabeth Chen from New England College of Optometry, the first overseas university established friendly relationship with Wenzhou Medical College, gave a speech as the representative of overseas universities. She reviewed the 16-year friendship between the two universities and highly praised the joint MS/OD program, saying it becomes a model of education for other American Colleges of Optometry . She also presented President Qu with a Silver Paul Revere Bowl as a congratulation gift.
