Hunan University Establishes the Second Overseas Confucius Institute

On the afternoon of March 7, a signing ceremony was held in Beijing for the joint construction of Confucius Institute in Regina by Hunan University and Regina University, Canada. It is the second Overseas Confucius Institute which was jointly established by Hunan University and overseas university, following Confucius Institute in South Korea. Xu Lin, director of Chinese Language Council and director-general of Confucius Institute Headquarters, and Wayne Timmons, President of Regina University inked the cooperation agreement.

The delegation of Regina University paid a four-day visit to Hunan University from March 10 to 13, and signed Executive Agreement on Jointly Establishing Confucius Institute in Regina by Hunan University and Regina University. With the approval of Chinese Language Council and negotiation of the two universities, Confucius Institute in Regina will be officially founded in the middle of this October and at that time the two sides will sign agreements on cooperative talents cultivation and exchange of enrolled students in Hunan University.

Secretary of Hunan University CPC Committee Liu Keli, and vice president of Hunan University Chen Shou met with the delegation, and held talks on joint construction of Confucius Institute, scientific research cooperation, students cultivation and exchange between the two universities.
