HUST Alumnus Zhong Minlin Was Voted LIA Fellow

Zhong Minlin, alumnus of HUST and professor of Tsinghua University, was voted Laser Institute of America LIA Fellow by the executive committee of LIA in honor of his contribution to international laser processing and the institution. The title-granted ceremony will be held on ICALEO 2010 in California.

LIA, established in 1968, is an authority institute in the field of international laser, laser processing and laser security. Large-scale international conferences such as ICALEO are held by LIA every year. Its fellows are scattered all over the world.

About 80 including several Nobel Prize winners have been voted LIA Fellow since LIA's establishment. It is reported that Zhong Minlin is the first and the only one from Mainland China currently.

Zhong Minlin graduated from Optical Engineering Department of HUST in 1983. He is director of Beijing Purple Light Laser Rapid Manufacturing Technology Research Institute, senior member of Optics Institute of China OIC , member of the sixth committee and standing committee and secretary-general of laser processing committee of OIC, member of LIA, member of Optics Institute of Beijing, member of the sixth editorial board of Metal Heat Treatment , member of editorial board of Laser Products, reviewer of China Laser.
